CBN Open: Why Serena Teluwo May Shine In Abuja

The time may have finally come for Serena Teluwo to show the world how much of a talent she is. Not many know what she can do on her day.

For many years, the teenager has had to battle injuries which have set her back during important phases of tournaments.

Even in the juniors where she has held sway as one of Nigeria’s finest, Serena has had to struggle with injuries at times when her game was peaking.

But they all seem to be a thing of the past now. Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that the player is not as fit as a fiddle.

If there was any player in the whole of Nigeria who made absolute use of the Covid-19 lockdown, Serena ranks among the top five, if not top three.

Our correspondent gathered that she improved her overall fitness level during the lockdown and not a single day passed without the youngster going through her training routine.

Even though she is yet to participate in any tournament since her return to full fitness, Serena may have gathered enough ‘energy’ required for the competition.

In fact, she is believed to be one of the favorites to go far in this competition having trained rigorously with the super talented Oyinlomo Quadre whom she also rates so highly.

If there is a time to put to good use all that Serena has learnt in the last few months, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Senior Tennis Open Championship presents her that opportunity.

Nigerians will have their eyes on this youngster, her coach and friends will be rooting for her and her family (as always) will be watching closely.

Is this the year when we get to see her full potentials?
