Nigeria Tennis Live can exclusively report that the organizers of the annual NCC Tennis League are targeting June/July for the commencement of the 2019 season of the tournament.
This much was revealed by Godwin Kienka, Director of the International Tennis Academy, the body that manages the tournament every year, in a phone chat with our correspondent over the weekend.
Our correspondent had first reported that the ITA was planning April for the initial commencement of the championship, but have now moved it forward again.
Kienka informed that the ITA is planning to commence the league season earlier than it did in 2018, hence the plan to kick off the competition in June.
He noted that this year’s edition promises to be more exciting and than the previous episodes because the organizers are looking forward to getting better with the yearly event.
“This year, we are planning to start early, trust me,” Kienka started.
“As we speak, the date has not been confirmed yet, but we’re targeting June/July for the commencement of the competition,” he added.
Since it has been difficult for players to participate in regular tennis competitions, the NCC League, for the past four years, has been a source of relief to the players who now see it as their main competition all year round.
Recall that Jos-based Team Techvibe won the 2018 edition of the competition, and are looking forward to winning it back-to-back for the first time.
