Nigeria’s Marylove Edwards was in fine form when she played her second round match against India’s Himadri at the ongoing Junior ITF Circuit in Kigali, Rwanda. She won 0-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Even though the match ended in the final set triumph for the US-based, she eased into a win after falling flat in the first set.
Edwards who had been off the radar in junior tennis tournaments prior to the commencement of this competition, was rusty in the first set, a factor which was responsible for her first set slip.
But the moment she got her momentum back on track, there was no stopping the youngster who started firing on all cylinders.
She will now take on Sofiya Lebedeva, the tournament’s number four seed for a place in the semifinals of the Grade 5 tournament.
Nigeria Tennis Live, as always, will keep tabs on the performance of the youngster in the tournament which ends later this week.
